River Valley Food for Kids Mission is simple:
The mission of River Valley Food 4 Kids is to help alleviate hunger among children in the Arkansas River Valley by providing food when other sources of nutrition are not readily available and to provide education on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
What do they do exactly? A WHOLE LOT!!!
River Valley Food for Kids has a weekly backpack program that sends backpacks home each week of the school year to surrounding communities to alleviate child hunger in the River Valley. They also have a Holiday Handout that is coming up and a great opportunity for you to volunteer! There is also a Summer Handout and River Valley Food for Kids is now sponsoring kids cooking classes.
This year's Holiday Handout will be Friday,4 pm December 16th from 4pm to 8 pm and Saturday, December 17th from 10 am to 4 pm. River Valley Food for Kids posts upcoming volunteer opportunities on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RVF4K and we will need volunteers for this handout. River Valley Food for Kids will gladly schedule your organization a time to volunteer if you cannot do it during this year's Holiday Handout. With the holiday season fast approaching, you may feel the need to give back, but are like me and many others who do not have a lot of extra money, so volunteering your time is a great way to contribute to your community. What better way to give back is there than feeding local children who may not have enough to eat this Holiday Season?
River Valley Food for Kids also accepts non-perishable food item donations as well as money to fund their programs. If you want to go either of these routes, you can drop the donations by the warehouse at 3001 E. H St, Russellville, AR 72801.
