Taking care of ourselves is not a selfish act, but rather the most selfless thing we can do. Whether it's maintaining our physical health, nurturing our mental well-being, or tending to our emotional needs, ensuring these aspects of our lives are in order is crucial for creating a healthy society. Think about it - if we overindulge and lack energy, how can we assist our neighbors in clearing debris from their yards after a storm? And if we let depression and anxiety consume us, how can we offer support to others during times of tragedy? It simply isn't possible.
The Bible teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves, which is an important message I want to share with you today. Showing love to others involves being there for them when they need support. However, it's difficult to do so if we don't prioritize self-care for our own mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. It's essential to understand that seeking help from a psychiatrist or therapist is not a sign of weakness. Just like going to the gym to improve our physical health or reading a book to gain knowledge, taking care of our mental health is equally important.
I must admit that I haven't been as dedicated to my weight loss journey as I should be recently. I need to shed around 50 pounds to reach a healthy range again.
