She Said So: Sarah Sanders' Blocked the Abortion Amendment by Manipulating the Arkansas Supreme Court

Updated: Aug 25

In a brazen display of power, Sarah Sanders took to Twitter to celebrate her influence over the Arkansas Supreme Court, boasting about constructing a "conservative Supreme Court majority" that upheld "the rule of law." However, the underlying implications of Sanders' tweet are far more sinister.

Sarah Sanders Confesses to blocking the Arkansas Abortion Amendment

In her tweet, Sanders essentially acknowledged her role in preventing the Arkansas Abortion Amendment from appearing on the ballot. By influencing the Supreme Court to conform to her conservative views, she has compromised the principles of justice and democracy and breached public trust. It should be noted that Sanders' actions would not have been possible without the support of individuals like John Thurston, Secretary of State, Tim Griffin, Attorney General, and the participation of four members of the Arkansas Supreme Court.

It began with a strategy. In 2022, the Republican financial apparatus entered Arkansas to secure the election of Sanders, along with associates like John Thurston and Tim Griffin, and they succeeded. Following the U.S. Supreme Court's overturning of Roe vs. Wade, which shifted the responsibility for abortion laws to the states, the Republican-controlled Arkansas legislature promptly prohibited abortion. Anticipating that pro-choice advocates would respond by proposing a 2024 ballot amendment to reinstate women's reproductive rights, Sanders, Thurston, Griffin, and the legislature implemented measures to complicate this process. They altered the requirement, increasing the number of counties from which petitioners needed minimum signatures from 15 to 50. Griffin insisted on a specific wording for the petition. Wording that would put voters at unease. The legislature changed the requirements for petition submission. Using his interpretation of those requirements, Thurston dismissed a petition endorsed by 102,000 Arkansas voters, and the selected Arkansas Supreme Court confirmed this rejection. The outcome was predetermined.

The very essence of democracy relies on fair, transparent processes that reflect the will of the people. Sanders and her co-conspirators actions represent a dangerous precedent where political power takes precedence over ethics and integrity. Their blatant disregard for the democratic process is a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked authority.

Fascism refers to a way of organizing society with an emphasis of autocratic government, dictatorial leadership, and the suppression of opposition.

Arkansas don't let fascism corrupt our state. Sarah Sanders and her co-conspirators must be held accountable for their actions and the only way that is going to happen is if the people vote and remove them from office.

Who will rise to correct the injustices? Will women. They have the most to lose under this corrupt regime, especially regarding their reproductive rights. But what of men? Will they also take action against corruption? What paths will Democrats and Independents follow? Is the Democratic Party prepared to counteract corrupt practices? Have they established a strategy?

This presidential election year is critical, with freedom and democracy hanging in the balance. Arkansas voters have the potential to be instrumental in helping restore the nation's integrity, shared ethical values, and joy. Sanders has initiated the implementation of Project 2025 in Arkansas. She possesses the playbook and is actively employing it. For those unfamiliar with Project 2025, further information is available for reading.
