I recently learned about a program similar to Give Back Box that makes me so happy! Did you play with Legos as a kid? I did and my cousin Larry did too. He had every single set ever made! Growing up, we spent hours following directions while building all kinds of masterpieces from castles to sports cars and even the moon! We also designed some not-so-masterful pieces ourselves (not quite sure what they were), but creating, building, and learning while playing was always fun! What I recently learned about is Lego's sustainability program - Lego Replay.
"LEGO Replay is a simple-to-use platform that allows you to pass forward your much-loved LEGO bricks and share the power of play with kids in need." At least, that's how Lego describes it on their website. Essentially, you can box up and ship back your unused Lego bricks, which are then recycled to kids in need. Lego has actually partnered with Give Back Box to make Lego Replay happen. Just like Give Back Box, you box up your unused Lego pieces, print a shipping label, and then ship them off. The pieces ship to multiple donation partners who then make sure the Lego blocks end up in the hands of thousands of American children.
Currently, the Replay Program can only accept:
LEGO® System, DUPLO® & Technic™ Bricks and Elements from single or multiple sets
LEGO® Minifigures and Mini-dolls (no need to disassemble)
LEGO® Baseplate
After Lego receives the bricks and redistributes them, the kids get a box with a variety of bricks and elements harboring endless possibilities for creativity and imagination. This is why you don’t need to worry about sending full sets or building instructions. The box also comes with an activity booklet with some great building activities to try out.
Who knows what can happen when you pass on your Lego bricks to the next generation? Young minds will have the opportunity to become engineers, architects, set designers, building contractors, or even astronauts with this simple creative outlet. Participating in this program is one way to create a future of endless possibilities, so check out Lego Replay today!
As of today:
140,810 Boxes of LEGO bricks donated to the Replay program
1,016,545 lbs of LEGO bricks donated to the Replay program
258,088 Children playing with LEGO Replay donated bricks
