As of this morning, the Supreme Court has stated that it's now up to the states to choose their own laws regarding abortion. In Arkansas, if there isn't already a law on the books making abortion completely illegal, there most likely will be one soon. (Never mind, scroll down for the already enacted law.) To change this law, the people need to be ready to voice their opinions to their state senators and representatives. To make abortion a right again, Arkansans should go even further and lobby their United States representatives and senators to come together and codify into federal law. If your current senators and representatives do not listen, vote them out and vote someone who will listen and work for the people in. My thoughts as an Arkansas man on abortion is this, "I have no words." I'm not a woman, it's not my choice. I shouldn't even have a say in the matter. The decision should be left to the woman and their health care providers. Currently, I'm very thankful for Hippa and federal laws guaranteeing a patients right to privacy, so if this choice is made, the individual isn't shamed for the choice. That being said, I cannot, nor will not stand by quietly as anyone's rights are trampled on by our nation. This may just be the tip of the iceberg! We don't need to just vote. We need to invest in campaigns that align with our own values by donating money. If you cannot donate money, donate time. Chris Jones for governor has a text bank that you can sign up for to make calls for his campaign, or you can donate directly to his campaign here: https://chrisforgovernor.com/ Your other AR governor option is here: https://www.sarahforgovernor.com/ What else can you as an Arkansan do right now to give women autonomy over their own bodies again? 1. Call your Senator Jon Bozeman at (202) 224-4843 to voice your opinion or go straight to his desk at 1401 W. Capitol Ave. Suite 155, Little Rock, AR 72201
2. Call your Senator Tom Cotton at (870) 864-8582 or visit him directly at 1401 West Capitol Ave Suite 235, Little Rock, AR 72201.
3. Find your representative here: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
4. Contact them, make your voice heard.
5. Have friends and family contact them.
6. Gather together and protest.
7. If they don't listen, VOTE THEM OUT!
If you don't vote, you should. You can register here: https://www.usa.gov/register-to-vote#item-212645

From this post, you can determine that I am Pro-Choice. I believe abortion should be an option until 16 weeks of pregnancy or until the time of Quickening as our founding fathers believed. To me the time of quickening in modern society would be the point when the fetus can live by it's own breath. I believe life starts at first breath.
